The proposed initiative to provide a new computer terminal for every member of staff is dependent on several other factors. These are the NSD (New Software Development) project which is working on developing a number of new programs. One of these is for our staff to use when dealing with customers on the telephone. (It includes fields for the staff to complete as the call progresses such as customer name, address, whether a new customer or existing, payments details and history.) Another program the NSD is developing is for our despatch area to complete every time they send out an order. This also includes the customer name and address and the despatch address (which is sometimes different from the customer's address) and the type of postage (priority paid or private courier or whatever is appropriate). Another factor that the proposed initiative is dependent on is the relocation project which is currently at stage 2. Stage 1 was where they were finding a new location for our staff and in Stage 2 they are mapping out what will be located where on the floor plan of the new building. Stage 3 will be where they work out the logistics of making the move and Stage 4 will be the actual move. The proposed initiative cannot progress until after Stage 2 is complete or we will not have sufficient space to accommodate the computer terminals. And finally the recruitment project, while not absolutely necessary to be completed before we purchase the computer terminals, it would be ideal if it were because IT staff are currently in great demand in this area and if we are unable to get the staff then there is no point in purchasing the equipment.
